Product Overview

Hoffman Tactical Super Safety Style 3 Position Forced Reset Conversion Kit

CNC machined from 4140 steel, heat-treated, and nitrided for exceptional long-term durability. Includes a modified detent paired with a modified mil-spec trigger shoe.

Take your AR-15 to the next level with this fully ambidextrous, 3-position forced-reset conversion. Modes include Safe, Semi, and Forced Reset, providing the functionality of a fully automatic weapon system without the legal designation of a machine gun.

These systems are compatible with a wide range of calibers and options such as:

AR-15 5.56 300blk, 6.5 Grendel, 6mm Arc.

AR-10 308, 6.5 Creed.

SMG's- 9mm/.40sw CMMG radial delay blowback, **All other PCC's see note below**

MP5 with AR FCG Lower from Lee Sporting.

Options:

  • Without Trigger Shoe:
It is ideal if you plan to modify an existing trigger. This option includes the detent, cam, and lever only.

  • With Trigger Shoe:
Perfect for replacing the trigger shoe in your mil-spec trigger group. This option includes all components needed for conversion: trigger shoe, detent, cam, and lever.

Important Notes:

  • A mil-spec-style hammer is required for proper operation. Cassette-style triggers are not compatible.
  • Minor fitting may be necessary to ensure optimal performance. Additional tuning may improve reliability depending on your firearm's configuration.

Buffer Spring and Weight Requirements:

Due to the necessity of the bolt being in battery to fire in forced reset mode, most standard 556 AR-15s cannot use a carbine (3.0oz) buffer weight without inducing intermittent bolt bounce which causes a so-called "dead trigger". In our experience, it is unfortunate how common these inefficiently tuned rifles are among inexpensive manufacturers and build kits.

The following is our recommendations for buffer and spring weight tuning:

5.56 16" Mid Length Gas- H1/H2 Buffer

5.56 16" Mid Length Gas Suppressed- H2/H3 Buffer

5.56 16" Carbine Length Gas- H2/H3 Buffer or Rifle Length Spring with Carbine Buffer

5.56 11.5" Carbine Length Gas- H1/H2

5.56 11.5" Carbine Length Gas Suppressed- H1/H2

300blk 7.5" Pistol Length Gas- H1

300blk 7.5" Pistol Length Gas Suppressed- H1/H2

**PCC Note**

Due to the wide variety of parts and configurations of direct blowback PCCs, we do not suggest using one of our kits unless you are willing to possibly modify the geometry of your bolt carrier. Most PCC BCGs have additional weights placed in the rear of the receiver and may interfere with the system's function. If you are starting from scratch we recommend the CMMG operating system because it mimics the standard AR-15 bolt geometry and allows perfect function out of the box. (we do not accept returns of modified cams and levers).

Your specific setup and mileage may vary, these are general suggestions from our experience! If you need assistance with more specific tuning recommendations do not hesitate to reach out the Cornfire team is happy to help.

    Forced reset

Posted by Mr. T on Feb 1st 2025

Works great with .300 blackout and 5.56. 9mm required some tweaking, the ideal (supressed) 9mm build I had was with 150 grain federal syntech ammo, a KAK 10 oz buffer, sprinco red spring. And removing the weight from the bolt i was using. 115 grain supressed was running into dead triggers but unsupressed seemed to be running just fine with the buffer and springs i was using, but more testing needs to be done. The 7.5 oz buffer i had installed earlier was running into a dead trigger and a few out of battery detonations. TL:DR 9mm direct blowback can work but I imagine a delayed blowback would be a better solution if you want a pcc build.

    3 position Forced Reset conversion

Posted by Unknown on Jan 20th 2025

I had my rifle converted back in the fall of 2024. I have absolutely fallen in love with it. No major changes except a switch to an H2 buffer. It has worked flawlessly. I highly recommend grabbing one if you can.

Definitely the best machining quality I've seen from any SS manufacturer. The owner is super responsive and helpful. Install was very straight forward, very satisfied. Will 100% be purchasing more.

Works exactly as intended, the NFA is dead in the water! I had a huge grin the entire time as I dumped mag after mag from my AR
